Designing Graphic Elements for Storytelling

Laika en las Estrellas required the creation of multiple graphic assets integrated directly into the narrative of the series.

Working closely with the Art Director, I helped define visual elements across different locations and scenes, translating the script into believable graphic pieces that supported the story world. The work involved designing brands, printed materials, and everyday objects that appeared on screen and interacted with the characters.

Collaborative & Fast-Paced Production

The project demanded close collaboration with the art department and fast decision-making. Designs needed to be convincing on camera, adaptable to different locations, and ready for immediate production, reinforcing the importance of clarity, flexibility, and storytelling driven design.

Hand-Drawn Elements for Character Development

In addition to digital design, I created hand drawn illustrations that became part of the story itself. These drawings were conceived as creations made by one of the characters, requiring a specific visual style that felt personal, imperfect, and emotionally grounded within the narrative.

Graphic Design as Part of the Narrative

Based on the script, I designed a wide range of fictional but realistic elements, including posters, books, cigarette packaging, storefront graphics, real estate branding, advertisements, and product packaging for various on screen locations.

Each piece had to feel authentic, coherent with the story’s universe, and visually aligned with the tone of the series, all within tight production timelines.
